Despite keeping pace with the visitors for the first part of the game, Canada gradually succumbed to the experience and skill of the Maori All Blacks in an entertaining game at BC Place on Friday. A record crowd of more than 29,000 saw the home team defeated 51-9 in an entertaining, if ultimately, one-sided affair.

whitecaps vs sounders

mls cup west semi – leg 1

Despite a very vocal and enthusiastic crowd, the Whitecaps and Sounders played out a fairly tame 0-0 tie at BC Place on Sunday. Neither team impressed up front with few clear chances on goal at either end. It was a scrappy affair that surprisingly only produced three yellow cards. Going into Sunday afternoon’s game at BC Place, the Vancouver Whitecaps had the chance to finish first in the Western Conference for the first time in the club’s history. A win would also give the ‘caps their biggest ever points total for a season, most home MLS wins, and tie the most wins overall in a season. In short it was an important afternoon.

The San Jose Earthquakes on the other hand were fighting for a spot in the playoffs, and would be no push over in this regard.
